Rendering a high quality image with resolution 1920x1080 made my Computer collapse. The highest resolution I could achieve with my Laptop was 960x480 with 30 Samples per Pixel, which took about 713 Minutes. Calculating this down to a "high resolution" image, would resolve in:
→ 960*480*30 = 1 382 400 rays = 1920*1080*(2/3)
→ not even one ray per pixel to render in 12 hours.
Which would contradict a "high resolution" image, as the glas needs far more rays per Pixel to look good.

When I tried 5 rays per pixel, somehow my Computer overheated and shut down.

Why didn't we just implement the cylinder in the assignments, instead of intersecting it with a ray "theoretically"?
