Abstract
"Twilight at the Durbar" is a digital reimagining of the neoclassical grandeur found in Kathmandu’s historic Singha Durbar, captured at the contemplative "blue hour" of dusk. The motivation behind this scene was to explore the stoic authority of South Asian neoclassical architecture by placing it in a serene, aquatic environment that emphasizes its scale and symmetry. The artistic intention is to evoke a sense of quiet mystery; the contrast between the cold, darkening sky and the warm, reddish-orange glow from selective windows suggests a living presence within the silent stone walls. By utilizing subtle ripples in the foreground canal to stretch and distort the golden reflections, the image tells a story of the duality between the permanent, rigid history of the palace and the fluid, ever-changing nature of the world that surrounds it.
