Our Scene shows Yoda's small undergroud Cave
and while it looks cozy, there is much going on
The Scene
Our scene shows Yoda on an altar/table in a cave. The cave is generally somewhat small and
has an entrance from above, from which most of the light enters. Yoda levitates a hammer
with his power, a deer watches this and hopes not to be the next victim. There are some
pillars in the area, afew of which have already been destroyed and fallen over. In addition,
some plants and a shell bring further life to the scene.
Further details and justifications for the use of the various assets and resources can be
found under 'Used Assets' further down this page.
How it fits to Chaos in Harmony
Chaos
Our scene shows Yoda's cave underground. At first glance, it looks peaceful, cozy and
harmonious, but a closer look reveals a few aspects that bring chaos to the surroundings.
One aspect that brings chaos to the scene is Yoda himself. With his power, he levitates the
hammer and it's uncertain what he wants to do with it, as well as whether the hammer will
remain the only victim of his power (and not perhaps the deer watching the action intently).
This is also applies to some broken and fallen pillars, which Yoda could also have
destroyed.
Furthermore, other pillars could fall over, one is already under the entrance, which also
allows the
scenario that the pillars fall through the entrance into the cave.
The fire, which is in the background, can also cause further damage and thus cause chaos if
it spreads.
Furthermore, the fast-growing plants can quickly make the cave confusing. The individual
strands of plants can become so long that they take up the cave in the future. The deer can
also be associated with chaos, as it would normally jump around wildly in a cave where there
may not be an exit accessible to the deer.
Harmony
However, as the scene is a snapshot, it looks very harmonious. The light, the fire and the plants make the cave look cozy and inviting. Many different assets are also harmonious in themselves, such as the columns, as their details are symmetrical. Furthermore, together with the hammer, Yoda is a symbol of harmony. With his power, Yoda is able to move objects, no matter how heavy, gently and precisely through narrow spaces and put them down without causing any damage. Also, if you look closely, the deer is actually a unicorn, which is also a symbol of harmony. The unicorn is a peaceful animal that isn't aggressive and doesn't cause any damage. In addition, the fire provides security and gives light and warmth in an otherwise dark and cold environment. The plants also provide a pleasant climate and a good atmosphere. The shell is a sign that the cave was once filled with water and that the cave was once a place of life. The altar or table is a place of peace and tranquility, where Yoda can relax and meditate. The scene is a snapshot of a harmonious moment in the cave, where everything is in balance and in harmony, but as the scene goes on, it can become chaotic.
Why we should Win
We think we should win because we put a lot of thought into our scene and a lot of work into
the renderer to make the scene look beautiful. The area light in particular is used to give
the scene great lighting. It is clear that there is an exit from the cave at the top, from
which the light shines in. Another area light was used for the fire. This causes the flames
to emit a reddish light that illuminates the surrounding objects.
We spent a lot of time selecting, creating and, above all, optimizing the scene. There were
many previous versions before this final scene was created.
How we interpret our Scene
Do you know whats harmonic? Yoda! He's a very chill green guy who encourages peace and harmony in the world. Do you know whats chaotic? Yoda throwing a hammer onto a deer! How could he? He seems to be such a nice dude… CHAOS IN HARMONY! But lets look at it from another perspective. What is the most harmonic animal you can think of? You guessed right! A Unicorn :D! But what about a deer which looks like a unicorn because of a sea shell on top of its head? CHAOS IN HARMONY! What do you think of fire? Is it dangerous? Is it calming? Is it a place to keep you warm? Or are you constantly afraid of a huge fire killing all your beloved ones? NO! IT'S CHAOS IN HARMONY!!! Btw, did you think about how the deer came into the cave? Some say it's destiny. Some say it's because of all the intertwining decisions the deer made in its life and some say: „I really don't care…“. WRONG, IT'S CHAOS IN HARMONY!
The Story of the Deer
Once upon a time a small deer was born. It's name was Otto. Despite it's well formed body and precious fur it was bullied most of the time by the other deer. They always said things like „Shell-Head Shell-Head“, and then they ran away laughing. Often the deer seeked a place to be alone and let out its tears. It was a hard time but Otto kept with the herd to not give an easy prey. One day, everything changed. A lion appeared out of nowhere. Like every time if something moved quickly the whole herd started running. This time Marvin wasn't quick enough. He twisted his ankle two days ago and couldn't run quick enough. The lion noticed that and ran after him. The lion jumped to kill Marvin but Otto was there. Otto, not like the others, ran towards the lion with the goal to save one of its kind. He calculated the jump of the lion and positioned such that the lion landed on top of the shell. The lion let out a scream of pain and trailed of. The whole herd cheered for Otto, finally his weird attachement has proven worthy. Otto still liked to be alone a lot of the time and after the encounter with the lion he felt brave enough to go on longer adventures. One day he noticed a weird looking entrance to a cave, and so he started exploring. THE END
