It was an easy day for the fly.
Warm air, quiet forest, nothing to worry about.
Then came the smell of a young fly agaric.
Sweet. Familiar. Impossible to ignore.
She landed on the bright red cap and started eating.
The spider noticed.
He had seen this before.
Flies like mushrooms. Mushrooms like flies.
As the fly ate, the world became softer and slower.
Colors warmer. Thoughts lighter.
She didn't notice the spider anymore.
The spider didn't rush.
He simply watched his lunch enjoy itself.
One moment later... and lunch was over.
Among all implemented features, I especially enjoyed working on
clearcoat and iridescence.
Clearcoat was interesting as a layered effect: balancing an additional
specular lobe on top of the base material required careful control of
energy conservation and viewing angles.
Iridescence turned out to be the most challenging and rewarding part.
Implementing thin-film interference helped me better understand how
wavelength dependent effects, film thickness, and index of refraction
interact to produce color shifts across the surface.
These features significantly influenced the final visual appearance and
were crucial for achieving the organic, slightly surreal look of the scene.
