Chaos in Harmony

Rendering competition of the lecture Computer Graphics in WS2024/25.

The Story

The scene models a garage where a tractor from 1959 is refurbished. This process is always connected with a lot of chaos. After the refurbishment the outcome of the finished project is very harmonic.

The Scene

The rendered scene shows an image of the used garage with the most needed tools and the refurbished tractor. All used external models and details on used features can be found below. The implemented features of the tractor are:

Shading Normals For the surface texture.
Alpha Masking For the name tag on the side and the emblem on the front of the hood.
Rough Dielectric The lights on the fender are implemented by a rough dielectric that has a point light inside. The front lights can be seen directly, and their effect is observable on the hood. The backlight can only be seen by an indirect reflection on the metallic surface of the lathe.

The light of the scene comes from area lights under hanging cabinets and improved sampled spherical lights under the ceiling. The whole scene is sampled with Halton sampler, used the thin lens camera for sharpness on the tractor and slight blurred textures in the front and in the back, and post-processed by Intel's image denoising library (using shading normals and albedo). The background, the bottom and the top are simple rectangles with surface normals and texture information from blenderkit.
