Figure 1: This figure represents an ages old problem in chess

Inspiration

This is a famous chess puzzle from the Persian text called 'Kitab-Sharanj' (The book of Chess). This book dates back to 836 AD. The author Ad-Adli was known at his time as one of the best players of the Persian-slash Turkish area

His book was known as one of the first attempts of deep chess analysis and consisted of five levels. White to move and checkmate in three!

Workflow

I downloaded indiviudal chess pieces in Blender and places them on top of board. Then I added camera and lights like Spotlights and pointlights to get individual positions.

Lastly, I used Python console of the Blender to get direction vectors for camera and lights to use in my C++ Ray-Tracer.
