The initial idea for this design was far away from the actual outcome. at first it was suppose to be that Harry Potter scene inside the Hall of Prophecy with the spherical prophecies on the ground and one falling down from above. Then I shared the idea with a friend and they said: "oh that motion is so cool you should do the Newton's pedulum!" and now here we are. But feel free to imagine yourself on level nine of the Ministry of Magic in London.
Creation of The Scene
The scene consists of five spheres hanging by strings from two cylinders attached to the wall. the strings are created using triangle solid to also intensify the effect of perspective in the scene. the floor and the ceiling have a chessboard texture and the walls surrounding the scene and the spheres are all mirror material. There are also two point lights to increase the magical atmosphere! the left sphere has a motion and no additional object is added cause we can still be creative with just basic solids. or at least my friend can be!
Highlights
The highlights of the scene would be the motion of the left spherical ball that will help the most inrepresenting the idea of the Newton's Pendulum. Moreover, the mirror material of the walls would create multiple reflections since they are surrounding the objects at different angles. The mirror material of the spheres would also capture the chessboard texture of the ceiling and the floor. And Lastly, the cyan and magenta lights in the scene would create colorful shadows on the cylinders and the ceiling and a contrast throughout the scene, best visible on the smooth color change of the floor.
Additional Features
The motion Blur (inside rt folder) of the left sphere, the cylinders to which the strings are attached (inside rt/solids folder)and the mirror material used for the surrounding walls and spheres (inside rt/materials folder) are the additional features of this desgin. The Motion Blur is a function which would take the translation vector
