Luna and Oliver can be seen here chilling inside on a summer day -- Oliver trying to take his day nap (which is his natural state of being), while Luna bothers him continuously with her friskiness. Adding to Oliver's toil, an unexpected visitor arrives and starts cooing and pecking at the window. "Ah, pigeons are the worst!", thinks Oliver. Both the cats are now fixated on the bird.

Brainstorming ideas for the rendering competition can be exhausting, so we resorted to the ever-reliable, time-tested species for inspiration. And yes, we are going to fully exploit the reviewers' bias towards the feline community to try and win this!

The animals featured in the scene are textured carefully to enhance their aesthetics. The fur textures were kindly provided with the models by the contributors of open source graphics community, leaving us with the task to aptly apply some noise and specular materials to the models. The tables, toys and cat-shaped food bowl all have a combination of diffuse and metallic materials.

The scene is lit up by two area lights -- one originating from the camera and the other through the window from the sun outside. All these features can be found in the create_scene method in a_competetion.cpp file.
