Summarization

We wanted to render a room of some sort and then got inspired by a previous entry on the render competition called "Dream Escape". The idea of our render is that a trophy stands on a desk representing an achievment one accomplished and a creature from another dimension reaching through the computer screen to steal it. In the center of the piece we can see a desk with office supplies on it. Among them are a few books, coffee and a plant. Also located on the desk are a computer screen and a trophy. A hand from a monster reaches through the screen into the room in direction of the trophy. It looks like it will steal the trophy. On the wall there are shelfs with more books and plants. The hand is somehow chained into the screen as if it was pulled back by some greater force. We started by downloading an open source model of a room and then successively modified it with more freely available assets until we were satisfied. The hand reaching for the trophy should be the focus point of the scene. So we started with an empty room and put some shlefs on the walls, then added the desk with the trophy and the screen. Finally some decoration was added like the books, the sofa and the plants.

The most interesting part of the scene is the way the hand reaches through the screen from a virtual world into the real world. We think that the render should win the competition because of how well it captures the feeling of getting robbed of an important achievment in ones life. On the left on a shelf a coffee machine is visible hinting at long nights spend by a person to achieve the trophy. On the right we can see half of a painting that is framed to the wall. The frame is decorated very nicely. Below it is a couch that looks comfortable. The person that worked hard for the trophy probably relaxed a lot on it after working.
